Doing household chores Almost all of us have experienced doing household chores, whether this is in our own house, rented house or apartment and owned condominium. But some people and children really try to evade doing these things and prefer to watch television, reading books & magazine, go out with friends and others etc. Some hate doing all of these things. Busy people have no time to do it, except during weekend and holiday. And the cleaning chores will only be limited to the length of time he or she is available for cleaning. Cleaning job to be more effective requires time and speed of how fast you do the cleaning work. In other countries, some people offered their cleaning services to interested people and to old & matured citizens who could no longer do all these cleaning job. While others hire cleaners because they don’t have the time to do it. Among the household chores that we find very difficult to do are hand washing of dirty clothes and ironing of clothes. Nowadays, almost all household are having washing machine and dryer, which totally eliminate hand washing and drying of clothes particularly during rainy season. Other household chores that we do regularly are the following. • Washing and wiping the dishes
• Sweeping and mopping floors
• Carpet cleaning and shampooing
• Throwing garbage, emptying trash bins and putting new trash bags
• Dusting and wiping furnitures, figurines, appliances, mirrors and blinds
• Cleaning of electric fans
• Cleaning of fireplace
• Cleaning toilet
• Polishing floor
• Cleaning windows and frames
• Removal of cobwebs on ceiling, walls and on floors
• Removal of dirty bed sheets and fixing clean ones
• Removal of dirty curtains and installation of clean ones
• Sweeping outside and around the house The speed and length of time in doing cleaning job, depends also on how big the area subject for cleaning, the number of furniture pieces present and the availability of necessary cleaning appliances or equipments in the house. Now that we are in the modern times, domestic helpers come in hand to do all these household chores. In most countries, domestic helper became an overseas job for others. People who can not afford to hire domestic helper are forced to do it by themselves. We can also say, that household chores is similar to house maintenance, in the sense that we are trying to maintain are those we regularly use such as, all the clothes that we wear, items we use in eating, toilet which we use to answer the call of nature and the house which we use as a shelter. Maybe there will come a time that every household will have a robot, to do all these household chores, for us to have enough time to rest after a day’s work in the office. And even robot needs rest after doing works which he has been assigned to do.
